पहिले तराईमा मात्र मनाइने छठ पर्व अहिले काठमाडौँमा पनि भव्य रुपमा मनाइन्छ। आज रानीपोखरीमा छठ मनाउने क्रममा यसरी सजाइएको थियो रानीपोखरी। रानीपोखरी छठका लागि खुला गर्न थालिएको २०६२/६३ को आन्दोलनपछि हो। हरेक वर्ष यहाँ राष्ट्रपति पनि आउने गर्नुहुन्थ्यो। यसपटक राष्ट्रपति परिवर्तन भएसँगै नयाँ राष्ट्रपति रानीपोखरीमा देखिनु भएन। नयाँ राष्ट्रपति कमलपोखरी र गुह्येश्वरीमा आयोजना गरिएको छठ पूजामा देखिनुभयो। हेर्नुस् रानीपोखरीको रौनक अंगद ढकालको क्यामेराबाट।

Ranipokhari looking nice. But it breaks heart to see the damage sustained by the central temple of Rani pokhari in one of the photos above. Instead of wasting money in lighting, would not it have been great to renovate the temple first with that money. From the photo, the damage looks extensive, the temple may get severely damaged by another shock, even a small one.

Besides giving information on Oli president’s choice of venue to celebrate chhath. I was expecting more analytical information like the impact of ongoing terai madhesi movement on the celebration of chhath in Kathmandu. It was reported in the media that due to dispute between two factions, this time the preparation of chhath at rain pokhari was done by mahanagarpalika. Personally, I am a sympathizer of madhesi issues and support ongoing agitation at terai-madhes but I totally disagree with the way the sanctity of rani pohari is being allowed to be encroached for chhath celebration. I see former president Dr Ram Baran to be the primary culprit. Just pose a question: Do you allow say the muslims right at the corner to come and observe their relegious event at the rani pokhari? Or there is even a small pokhari inside masjid, do muslim allow chhat celebrators to use their pokhari?
